Des Hughes Bachelorhood Trophy
Back in 1995 Des Hughes was getting married, and decided to have a stag weekend of golf. This event was held in May 1995 at the New Forest.

Des Hughes Bachelorhood Memorial Trophy
Geoff Nairn, who had been at the previous event, was returning to Australia, and he'd enjoyed the May weekend so much that he decided to organise another event the later in the year before he left. This became known as the Des Hughes Bachelorhood Memorial, and was held in September 1995 in Gwent.

September 1996

Des Hughes Bachelorhood Memorial Trophy Mk2
A precedent had now been set, and so the following year the Des Hughes Bachelorhood Memorial Mk2 event was held, this time in Yorkshire in September 1996.

May 1997 - September 1999

Sysdeco Golf Society
In 1997 it was the turn of Dave Hackshaw to get married, so in true spirit he decided to hold a golf weekend. As Des and Dave both had the same initials it was considered that we call it the DH Bachelorhood Trophy, but to give ourselves a better chance of booking reputable golf courses we decided to name ourselves after the company with which the majority of us were employed. This company was Sysdeco (UK). The weekend was held in and around Blackpool in May 1997.

The annual September events continued as did the now "standard" Spring events for a couple of years. Over time, people gradually left the employment of Sysdeco, and so it did not seem appropriate to name ourselves after a company for which only a couple of people now worked. At one of the previous events in Yorshire (and after a couple of beers) Des Hughes and Dave Hackshaw had been calling each other Big Nose, and on looking around were amazed to see that many other golfers also had big noses. Notable other big noses being Bipin Patel, Mick Parkin and Rob Stockens. At the September 1999 event we noted that several of the newer members also had big noses, notably Gary Farrow and Matt Fealey, so it was decided that we call ourselves the Big Nosed Golf Society.

September 1999 - present

Big Nosed Golf Society
A new name for the society with Mr Nosey as our logo. Several events have been held in the name of the Big Nosed Golf Society now, and even though it's a humourous name, we like it, and so it will probably remain for quite some time.
