Friday 7th May
We met up for a 12.00pm tee off on the Friday at The Marriott Breadsall Priory which is a Hotel/Golf/Country Club in the village of Breadsall in Derby. Most arrived in plenty of time and were able to enjoy a coffee and Bacon roll on arrival. There were due to be 13 Golfers on the Friday, however, Vishal ‘s car broke down on the way and Ed was cutting it fine, but on his way to the course and hoping to make it in time for the first tee off.
While we were finishing up on the putting green, Ed rolled up just in time so was able to tee off with the rest of the group. Friday’s round was played on the Moorland Course which as the name suggests was a fairly open course which was quite tough due to the wind. Following the round of Golf, Hitan had arranged for the evening meal to be swapped for bar snacks/meals which we were able to have in the clubhouse/leisure club. This then allowed us to go out in the evening for the customary Beers and a Curry.

On Friday evening after a shower and freshen up, we all jumped into cabs and headed into a small village not far from the hotel called Duffield, minus Gary and Dave who decided they would like a quiet night in at the Hotel. We had been advised that there were a couple of pubs that we could go to and then a curry house not far away and all within walking distance of each other. After a couple of pints at the first pub along with the customary draw for groups, and several bets being placed, we set off on foot to the second pub. After a 15 minute walk (in light drizzle) we ended up in the second pub where again a couple of pints were enjoyed by all, along with a game of killer on the dart board. We all decided to put in a pound each, with Bipin Jnr contributing pound coins for most of the group as nobody had any change (Several shouts of “I’ll pay you back later” were heard). Bipin Jnr then proceeded to win back all his pound coins that he had put into the Kitty!! Unsurprisingly, he was still chasing everyone for their pound coins at the end of the weekend!!
It was then decided to go to the curry house. Bully volunteered himself to ask the Pretty Barmaid for directions . On walking out of the pub, the light drizzle had turned into heavy rain. Three or four of the group decided that they weren’t prepared to walk in the rain, while about 6 of the group followed Bully and carried on walking to try and find the curry house which we had been advised was a 5 minute walk. After about 40 minutes of walking in the rain, we were totally soaked and totally lost. We eventually found the Curry House and a very nice curry was enjoyed by all that had made it there eventually. It was only later on in the cab back to the hotel that we noticed that the curry house was literally 5 minutes round the corner from the pub, and that Bully had actually taken us in totally the wrong direction and had added a couple of miles onto the walk (maybe something to do with the fact that he was concentrating more on the barmaids tits than listening to her directions!!). The other group who didn’t make it to the curry house had ended up getting a cab into Derby City Centre.
Saturday 8th May
On Saturday, the round of Golf was arranged to be played at Morley Hays golf club which was a five minute drive from the Hotel. We arrived at around 12.15 for our 12.58 tee off. There were 17 players booked in for the Saturday round. Gibbo turned up for Saturday and Sundays rounds and Hiten, Prad and Bully’s brother Pritesh all coming over for the day from Leicester. Vishal had also managed to get towed over to Leicester so was able to make it for the Saturday and Sunday rounds. Unfortunately, the weather was not brilliant with several showers throughout the afternoon. However after a rather cold and soggy day, we all managed to complete our rounds. Bipin Jnr and Pritesh had been playing in the same group and both came into the clubhouse with scores of 40 Stableford points. This left Pritesh at the top of the leaderboard with 1 group left to come in. However, Bully was very pleased to be able to point out to his brother that he would not win the trophy as it was his first Event with BNGS!! This left Bipin Jnr celebrating, thinking that nobody in the final group would come in with a better score than his. However, when the final group walked in, it turned out that Vishal had had an absolute Stormer and had scored 46 stableford points!! The trophies were awarded and we headed back to the Hotel where the evening meal had again been swapped for Snacks in the Clubhouse/Leisure club.
The results of the main competition can be seen below.
The winners of the prizes were as follows:

After a quick bite, a few beers and a quick shower, we all headed into Derby in cabs. The customary Bar/Pub crawl ensued as well as the usual leering at all the scantily clad locals!! At about midnight, half the group decided to head off to find a kebab shop and ended up back at the hotel by about half past midnight. The other half stayed and ended up going to a couple more bars before heading back to the hotel at about 3am.
Sunday 9th May
Sundays round was due to be played on the Priory Course at Breadsall Priory. This was a totally different course to the moorland course and was set on parkland immediately surrounding the Hotel. The weather was much improved and a good round was enjoyed by everyone with some fantastic holes played. Following the round, we all had a quick bite to eat and a beer and then all set off on our separate ways.
There were several new Members who joined us over the course of the weekend. Darren introduced us to Austin (Oz for short), while Gary brought along his mate Dave Naylor. Bully’s brother, Pritesh also joined us and hopefully all enjoyed their time in our company and will be back for future events.
Another enjoyable weekend was enjoyed by all. Next May’s event may be a long journey if Vishal decides to head back to New Zealand before then!!
