Friday 5th May
The first day's golf was held at Melton Mowbray Golf Club. The weather was overcast, a bit windy and a little chilly. However, the soup sandwiches and chips before we started warmed everybody up !

The evening contained a certain amount of betting between players about how many shots they were all going to beat other players by. The bets were noted and kept for the following day. Some people were to find that betting after a few jars of Caffreys wasn't necessarily the most prudent form of budgeting !

Saturday 6th May
As usual Saturday was competition day. The venue was Humberstone Heights Golf Club in Leicester. For £11.50 per round, this was excellent value for money. The course was well looked after, and had many bunkers (as Mick persisted in finding out). The weather was really sunny and very hot, and four and a half hours later when we finished, we were all a bit tanned and dehydrated !

Handicaps were given based on scores posted into the golf system (which are based off yellow tees). Bryan played some steady golf, and would have won the competition, but for a 10 on the last hole. Bipin did win, helped by a birdie on the par 3 12th, putting his ball within a foot of the pin (nice shot!). He had the same points score as Bryan, but won on a better back 9. Gary had a memorable 17 on the last hole. Mick drove against a tree on the left of the 6th which rebounded his ball into a pond on the right of the fairway (laugh, I nearly ...).

Sunday 7th May
Sunday's golf was played at Western Park Golf Club in Leicester. The course was a twin course with Humberstone Heights. It was similarly maintained, which was quite good, and it proved to be a very enjoyable day. The most impressive score on the day was a 111 by Tim, after his 155 and 132 on Friday and Saturday. Who's going to take bets with Tim in September then ?
